Solidago uliginosa

  • With wand-like stems topped with dense, tapering golden clusters, Bog Goldenrod adds vertical spark to wetland gardens. It grows 2-5 feet tall with booms from late summer into early fall.

  • Prefers part to full sun and consistently moist to wet soils, thriving in boggy spots, wet meadows, and rain gardens. It is very easy to grow with minimal care in the right conditions.

  • Forms loose colonies by rhizomes - ideal for naturalizing wet areas without becoming overwhelming. Upright and tidy, it mixes well with other moisture-loving natives.

  • Native to eastern North America, found naturally occuring in bogs, swamps, and wet ditches from Canada south to the Midwest.

  • Bright green stems and foliage emerge in spring, followed by golden flower spikes from late summer through fall. Slender seed heads persist into winter, providing subtle texture and bird food.

  • A rich nectar source for bees, butterflies, and beneficial wasps during the late season. Supports goldenrod specialist insects as a host plant for several moth species.
