Senecio aureus

  • With rounded, scalloped leaves and bright yellow daisy-like flowers, Golden Ragwort brings a welcome splash of color to spring gardens. It grows 1-2 feet tall in flower and forms low, evergreen basal rosettes that carpet the ground.

  • Seemly thrives in all conditions - full sun to full shade, in medium soils. Easy to grow and spreads prolifically if happy.

  • Forms a dense, weed-suppressing groundcover with cheerful floral spikes in spring. Stays low and tidy through the growing season after flowering. We always include this when installing gardens for its natural weed suppression abilities.

  • Native to the eastern U.S., especially in woodlands, meadows, and along streams.

  • Evergreen basal foliage persists through the winter, with golden-yellow blooms rising in mid to late spring. Leaves remain lush through summer, then take on deep tones in fall.

  • Early nectar source for bees, flies, and other pollinators. Dense foliage offers cover for small wildlife and helps prevent erosion, suppress weeds, and keep soil moist. An all around perfect groundcover.
